Description – d-Alpha Tocopherol Succinate is an esterified form of Alpha Tocopherol. It has reduced susceptibility to degradation when exposed to air or elevated processing temperatures providing flexibility in product formulations. Alpha-tocopherol is the primary form of vitamin E that is preferentially used by the human body to meet appropriate dietary requirements. In this form, the dietary supplements are used to prevent vitamin deficiencies.
Application – Esterification of alpha tocopherol succinate with an important biomaterial, polyethylene glycol (PEG), forms a new compound, D-a-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS), widely used today in drug delivery. There have been extesnive research and trials conducted to explore its application as an anticancer compound both alone and with chemotherapy and/or radiation.
