Description – Corynanthe johimbe, common name yohimbe, is a plant species in the family Rubiaceae native to western and central Africa. Extracts from yohimbe have been used in traditional medicine in West Africa as an aphrodisiac and have been marketed in developed countries as dietary supplements.
Application – The bark has been used traditionally as an aphrodisiac and to enhance sexual performance. Yohimbe is promoted for erectile dysfunction, athletic performance, weight loss, angina (chest pain caused by not enough blood flow to the heart), high blood pressure, diabetic neuropathy, and more.
