Description – Terminalia arjuna is one of the most accepted and beneficial medicinal plants in indigenous system of medicine for the treatment of various critical diseases. The bark of Terminalia arjuna has been used in India for more than 3000 years, primarily as a heart remedy.
Application – In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Terminalia arjuna has been used to balance the three “humors”: kapha, pitta, and vata. It has also been used for asthma, bile duct disorders, scorpion stings, and poisonings. It is used in the treatment of fractures, ulcers, hepatic disorders and shows hypocholesterolemic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antitumoral, antioxidant, antiallergic and antifeedant, antifertility and anti-HIV activities.
