Description – Saccharomyces boulardii is a tropical yeast first isolated from lychee and mangosteen fruit in 1923 by French scientist Henri Boulard.
Application – Saccharomyces boulardii is used as medicine. It is most commonly used for treating and preventing diarrhea, including infectious types such as rotaviral diarrhea in children. There is some research of its use for other types of diarrhea, acne, and a digestive tract infection that can lead to ulcers.
